"When we look at election maps sometimes we think people in some areas/states seem to vote against their own best interests. Many people in these areas are victims of gerrymandering, where districts are re-drawn to benefit political parties (and/or powerful interests elected officials represent). This is a form of quiet violence in which people's right to vote is taken away. This is generally done to suppress the votes of minorities and the poor."
